I can find the Cavender's Greek Seasoning in the spice section of my local

grocery store. It's in one of those round cardboard-type containers with a

shaker top (yellow with red border & writing).

 

The ingredients list " perfectly prepared blend of 13 ingredients " : salt, black

pepper, cornstarch, garlic, MSG, oregano, sugar, onion powder, spice

extractives, parsley and five other spices.

 

In case you can't find it, the following are two recipes for making your own

Greek seasoning. Both are very different, but I've never tried them to compare

to the Cavender's.

Greek Seasoning

1 tablespoon crushed thyme

1 tablespoon crushed rosemary

1 tablespoon lemon pepper

1 tablespoon garlic pepper

 

Pulse thyme and rosemary in mini-processor. Add peppers.

 

Yield:

" 1/4 cup "

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 teaspoons dried oregano

1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

1 teaspoon cornstarch

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon beef-flavored bouillon granules

 

Combine all ingredients; store in an airtight container.

 

Store herb containers in a dark, cool, dry place up to 6 months. Store

seldom-used seasonings in the freezer to maintain freshness.

 

Yield:

" 1/4 cup "
