Simple Broiled Asparagus

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 pounds thin green asparagus spears -- ( about 2 bunches )

1 tablespoon olive oil

salt and pepper -- to taste

 

Trim the tough ends of the asparagus.

 

Adjsut the oven rack to the uppermost position and heat the broiler.

 

Toss the asparaguw with the oil, salt and pepper, then lay spears in a a

single layer on a heavey rimmed baking sheet. Broil about 4 " from the

heating element, turning spears every 3-4 minutes. The total cooking time

should be about 8-10 minutes and the aparagus should be tender and lightly

browned when done.

 

Cool asparagus for 5 minutes and arrange on a serving dish.

 

Serve with one of the optional sauces,

NOTES : This was a very simple, but quite delicious way to prepare

asparagus. Recipes for four sauces were included in the article and follow
