Guest guest Posted April 8, 2001 Report Share Posted April 8, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Easy Pita Pizza Recipe By : The High Road to Health by Wagner and Spade, page 180 Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Pizza Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 onion -- thinly sliced 1 teaspoon cold-pressed olive oil 1 green pepper membranes and seeds removed -- thinly sliced 3/4 cup Tomato Garbanzo Bean Sauce OR Tomato Sauce (see separate recipes) 6 whole wheat pita breads Makes 6 pizzas This recipe is a lifesaver when you need a great meal or snack, fast. For kids, try adding lightly steamed vegetables that they might otherwise turn down. These pizzas are a treat in lunch boxes. 1. Sauté the onion in the olive oil over medium heat for 5 minutes. Remove from the pan. In the same pan, cook the pepper, covered, for 5 minutes over medium heat. 2. To assemble the pizzas, spread 2 tablespoons of the tomato sauce on each pita. Evenly distribute the onions and peppers. 3. Bake at 350F for 12 to 15 minutes. VARIATIONS.
