Easy, Easy Burgers

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

Marinated Tempeh or Marinated Tofu

(see separate recipes)

1 tablespoon cold-pressed olive oil

5 whole wheat hamburger buns

5 slices large -- ripe tomato

(2 slices per person if tomatoes are

small)

lettuce

sliced pickles

Mayo Spread I or II

(see separate recipes)

catsup

mustard

 

Makes 5 burgers

 

We always try to have tempeh or tofu marinating in the refrigerator so we

can put together burgers in a hurry.

 

1. Blot the slices of tofu or tempeh gently with a clean paper towel. Oil

the bottom of a skillet, heat, and add the tempeh or tofu in a single

layer. Cook over medium heat until the undersides are browned. Loosen the

tofu or tempeh often with a spatula while it cooks since it will have the

tendency to stick. Turn the slices over and brown the second side.

 

2. Serve on hamburger buns with tomato slices, lettuce, sliced pickles,

Mayo Spread, catsup, mustard, or your favorite condiments.
