Kathleen * Exported from MasterCook * Easy, Easy Burgers Recipe By : The High Road to Health by Wagner and Spade, page 154 Serving Size : 5 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Sandwiches Soyfoods Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- Marinated Tempeh or Marinated Tofu (see separate recipes) 1 tablespoon cold-pressed olive oil 5 whole wheat hamburger buns 5 slices large -- ripe tomato (2 slices per person if tomatoes are small) lettuce sliced pickles Mayo Spread I or II (see separate recipes) catsup mustard Makes 5 burgers We always try to have tempeh or tofu marinating in the refrigerator so we can put together burgers in a hurry. 1. Blot the slices of tofu or tempeh gently with a clean paper towel. Oil the bottom of a skillet, heat, and add the tempeh or tofu in a single layer. Cook over medium heat until the undersides are browned. Loosen the tofu or tempeh often with a spatula while it cooks since it will have the tendency to stick. Turn the slices over and brown the second side. 2.
