It acts as a palate refresher and a prelude to dessert - for those who still have room! Combine all but the last 2 ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook over moderate heat until the fruit is soft, about 15 to 20 minutes. Stir in the raisins and lemon juice and let cool, then chill, covered, until needed. Bring to the table in individual dessert bowls or parfait glasses.
