Makes: 1 cup; serves: 16 to 32 Sambals are Indonesian condiments served with the traditional rijstaffel (literally, rice table), a banquet of many, many dishes eaten with rice. Sambals can be as simple as chopped peanuts or shredded coconut. Prepared sambals tend to be spicy relishes, and I do mean spicy! Only the bravest of the brave will use much. 1. Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl. Let stand at least one hour, preferably overnight.
