Ash and Sarah's Chai Tea

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

4 cups water

1 large cinnamon stick or 1/2 teaspoon ground

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom

1 teaspoon fennel seeds

2 to 3 whole cloves

1/8 teaspoon powdered ginger

1/8 teaspoon amchoor (optional)

4 tea bags, black tea or your choice

2 cups to 3 cups whole milk (or a full fat plain

or vanilla soy milk for vegan version)

sugar, to taste

 

In a saucepan, combine water, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel seeds, cloves, ginger,

and amchoor, if using. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and add tea bags.

Allow to steep until desired strength is achieved. Remove tea bags.

 

Stir in milk and bring to a simmer. Add sugar to taste or serve unsweetened.

Strain into a pitcher or tea pot. Serve hot or cold.
