Hi there -

Has anyone used the Healthy Choice Recipe Crumbles? They are

designed to simulate ground meat. I have attempted to use them in

tomato sauces to simulate a meat sauce, but their texture changes and

ends up a bit rubbery. Has anyone had luck incorporating the

crumbles into any types of sauce? If so, how?

Thank you,

Brenda

I didn't know Healthy Choice had these too now! I've used the

Morningstar Farms and Boca Burgers brand.

You might want to try " browning " them first in a skillet with, if you

want to add it, a little bit of oil (or in a nonstick skillet without),

and then try adding them to the sauce.

I don't recall what the texture of " real " ground beef is like, so I'm

not a good person to answer that. :-) Whenever I've used the recipe

crumbles (including in sauces, but I believe I've always browned them

first), the texture seems okay to me.

Good luck!

You may be cooking them too long. They really only need to be heated through.
