3 tablespoons organic low-sodium teriyaki sauce

1 teaspoon organic toasted sesame oi

1 tablespoon organic rice vinegar

1 tablespoon organic honey

OR brown-rice syrup

1 pound fresh organic mushrooms -- * see note

*This recipe calls for 1 pound fresh organic mushrooms (portobello, shiitake,

cremini, oyster or a combination). Adjust to suit your needs or taste.

Preheat broiler. Combine the first four ingredients in a mixing bowl. Wipe the

mushrooms clean with a damp paper towel. If using, shiitakes, remove and

discard the stems. Leave the mushrooms whole (or slice large portobellos

1/4-inch thick).

Combine the mushrooms with the teriyaki mixture and stir together. Arrange in a

shallow foil-lined pan and pour any excess marinade over them. Broil for 4

minutes, stir, and continue broiling until the mushrooms turn dark with charred

spots, about 4 to 5 minutes longer. Remove from the broiler and transfer to a
