Guest guest Posted March 2, 2001 Report Share Posted March 2, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Baked Beans Recipe By : 1,000 Vegetarian Recipes by Carol Gelles, page 332 Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beans And Legumes Side Dishes Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 3 cups cooked small white or navy OR great northern beans (cooked from dry or canned drained) 1/3 cup molasses 2 tablespoons firmly packed light brown OR dark brown sugar 1/4 cup minced onions 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar 1 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt -- or to taste 1 1/4 cups boiling water Vegan Makes: 2 3/4 cups; serves: 4 These sweet beans are not too hard to make, especially if you start with canned beans. 1. Preheat the oven to 325F. 2. In a 1 1/2-quart casserole, combine the beans, molasses, brown sugar, onions, vinegar, mustard, and salt. Pour the water over the mixture. Bake, tightly covered, 3 to 4 hours or until sauce is thickened.
