1 cup low-sodium broth*

4 cups fresh whole green beans -- (11/2 lb.)

OR 16-oz. package frozen cut green beans

1 tablespoon margarine

1 medium red or yellow pepper -- cut into strips

This recipe takes 10 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to cook.

If using fresh green beans, wash the beans in cold water and snip off the end.

In a medium saucepan bring broth to a boil; add beans and cover. Cook over

medium heat for 8 to 12 minutes. (If using frozen beans, time according to

packaged directions.)

Meanwhile, melt margarine in small skillet, then add the pepper

strips. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, if using. Stir and cook until

crisp-tender, about 6 minutes.

Drain the green beans. In a serving bowl, add the cooked beans and pepper

strips; toss. Season with salt (if using) and pepper to taste. Sprinkle

with the chopped parsley.
