1 1/2 pounds sweet cherries -- pitted (dark)

3 tablespoons sugar -- up to 4 tablespoons

3 cups water -- plus 3 tablespoons; divided

12 whole cloves

6 whole cardamom -- (pods)

1 large cinnamon stick -- broken into pieces

1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

nutmeg -- freshly ground as garnish

4 tablespoons fat-free sour cream

Combine cherries, sugar, and 3 cups water in medium saucepan. Tie spices

heat and cool to room temperature. Discard spices.

Process soup mixture in food processor or blender until smooth. Strain,
