Lee Evans & Chris Rankin - Giant Book of TOFU Cooking Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 24 ounces firm tofu -- pressed and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sweet paprika 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper to taste 3/4 teaspoon white pepper 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 6 to 8 tablespoons butter -- melted In a bowl, combine the salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, white pepper, black pepper, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well. Brush each piece of tofu with the melted butter, then dredge each slice with the spice mixture, patting it firmly into the tofu. Pour a teaspoon of melted butter onto each slice of tofu, then place it, butter side down, in a hot frying pan. Stand back, and fry for 2 minutes. Then turn each slice over, and fry for 2 minutes longer. Keep the tofu slices in a warm oven until they are all ready to serve. Description: " You can serve these super-spicy tofu slices with rice, or as a sandwich filling topped with a favorite sauce.
