My dogs probably woulldn't eat these, but maybe I'll try them anyway! By the

way, the day after Christmas, I'm going out of town to visit friends and will be

gone until after New Year's. I wish everyone very Happy Holidays!

Vegetarian Dog Treats

olive oil spray

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2 cup triticale flour

1 1/2 teaspoons nonaluminum baking powder

1 tablespoon flaxseed meal

1/4 cup lite silken tofu

1 tablespoon liquid Fruitsource

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup ice water

plus

3 tablespoons ice water

 

Preheat oven to 400F. Spray baking pans with oil.

 

Place the whole wheat flour, triticale, baking powderr, and flaxseed meal in

food processor and pulse to blend. Add the tofu, Fruitsource, and olive oil;

process. Add the ice water through the feed tube while motor is running; dough

should hold together and form a ball. Turn dough onto lightly floured board and

knead a few minutes. Cover with a towel and let rest 5 minutes. Divide the

dough in half and roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1/8 to 1/4 inch.

Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough inro 2-inch squares. If you

prefer, you can cut the dough into 2-inch-by-4-inch pieces. Place on prepared

pans and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
