Guest guest Posted December 18, 2000 Report Share Posted December 18, 2000 I guess it is technically tomorrow so I'll post these lowfat breakfast recipes from Innkeeper's Best Low-Fat Breakfasts: 60 Delicious Recipes Shared By Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Across teh Country by Laura Lahn. * Exported from MasterCook II * Apple Dutch Babies Recipe By : Innkeeper's Best Low-Fat Breakfasts Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Breakfast Lowfat Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 cup egg substitute (or 2 eggs, or 4 egg whites 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup skim milk dash nutmeg 2 apples, peeled, cored, & chopped dash sugar dash cinnamon 1/4 cup chopped walnuts 1 tablespoon raisins 2 pats canola margarine Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix egg, flour, milk and nutmeg together with a whisk. Chop the apples and toss with cinnamon and sugar. Then add nuts and raisins to apples. Place 1 pat of margarine in each 9-oz ramekin and place in oven for 5 minutes. Remove hot dishes from oven and ladle 1/2 cup of batter into each. Top with a generous scoop of the apple, nut and raisin mixture. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until puffed up and golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve immediately. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOTES : Innkeeper Carl Glassman brought back this recipe from a Kibbutz in Israel, where he volunteered one summer. He picked apples from the Kibbutz orchards when making these classic " Dutch babies. " In Israeel, this was served with maple syrup to pour on top, but most guests at the Wedgwood find the fruit and nut mixture sweet enough.
