Guest guest
Thanks for the interesting information on wassail Ellen. Here is another Wassail recipe: * Exported from MasterCook * Wassail Bowl Recipe By : Vegetarian Celebrations, by Nava Atlas, page Serving Size : 22 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Alcohol Beverages Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 3 quarts dark beer or ale 1 pint dry sherry 1 cup packed light brown sugar -- or to taste 1 stick cinnamon -- grated fresh OR ground nutmeg and ginger -- to taste 2 lemons -- cut into chunks 2 cored apples -- cut into chunks Makes 22 to 24 3/4-cup servings. Wassail (from the Anglo-Saxon, meaning be of good health) is the most famous of English Christmas beverages. The contributor of this recipe related that this is a rustic version, or as she put it, " rough, " of this classic punch, hence the dark beer or ale and chunks of apple. In a large pot, combine all ingredients. Bring to a simmer and cook just long enough for the sugar to dissolve. Serve hot, ladled straight from the pot - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
