Guest guest
What is brewers yeast? (a.k.a. nutritional yeast)? and how is it made? is it a by-produkt? is it a waste-produkt? could you possibly make it yourself? how come there is so much protein in it? Guest guest
Brewer's yeast and nutritional yeast are actually two different things. Brewer's yeast is a by-product of the brewing industry, and Nutritional yeast (better tasting) is made as a supplement. I read in " The Vegetarian Way " that the only nutritional yeast that has been *proven* to contain vitamin B-12 is Red Star brand. Don't know if that's true or not. For more information, check out the following links: http://www.vegweb.com/glossary/docs/nutritionalyst.shtml http://www.vegsource.com/joanne/yeast.htm http://www.vegsource.com/cgi-bin/htsearch Hope this is helpful!
