Guest guest Posted December 13, 2000 Report Share Posted December 13, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Holiday Nut Ball Recipe By :Judy Brown Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Appetizer Soyfoods Vegan Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 eight ounce package tempeh 2 cups whole almonds -- unblanched* 2/3 cup soy mayonnaise 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast 2 tablespoons tamari Roast almonds at 250 degrees for l5-20 minutes, until golden brown in the middle. Chop by hand or food processor until finely chopped. Cube tempeh and steam for 20 minutes. Process (or hand grate and blend) with mayonnaise, yeast, and tamari until smooth. Fold in 1 cup chopped nuts. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Shape mixture into a ball and roll in remaining l/2 cup almonds. Refrigerate 2 hours. Serve on a platter with crackers and vegetables. *You may substitute unsalted dry roasted almonds. Fantastic appetizer for a dinner party or brunch.
