Festive Five Spice Bread (ABM)

1/2 cup dairy sour cream

1/2 cup water

1 tablespoon margarine or butter

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

3 cups bread flour

3 tablespoons sugar

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon Five spice powder

1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

or bread machine yeast

3/4 cup Snipped mixed dried berries and cherries

POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE:

1 cup sifted powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 teaspoons milk -- possibly more

 

Add bread ingredients to machine according to manufacturer's directions. Select

loaf size and basic white bread cycle. Cool.

 

POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE: In a small bowl, mix together powdered sugar and enough

milk (4 to 6 teaspoons) to make a glaze of drizzling consistency.

 

*Compare lowfat sour cream (169 Calories; 2g Fat (8.9% of the calories)) to full

fat sour cream (175 Calories; 3g Fat (14.4% calories from fat)).

Chinese five-spice powder, some blends have up to 6 or 7 spices, or as few as

four. A typical mix includes ground anise seed, start anise, clove, cinnamon and
