Guest guest Posted December 3, 2000 Report Share Posted December 3, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Homemade Applesauce Recipe By : The Jewish Homemaker Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Chanukah\Hanukkah Fruit Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 8 medium apples, peeled, cored -- cut into chunks 1 Bartlett pear 1/4 cup water OR apple juice 3 tablespoons sugar -- to taste 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon lemon juice -- if desired *This recipe calls for 3-4 tablespoons of sugar, to taste. Adjust to suit your needs or taste. In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. (If you have a food mill, apples may be cooked without peeling. Wash apples very well before cooking. The applesauce will be rosy pink.) Bring to a boil; reduce heat to simmer, and cook partially covered for 20 to 25 minutes, until tender. Break up applesauce with a spoon or serve it chunky. Makes 8 servings. Freezes well.
