I'm only sending this to the vegan parent groups that I belong to because

I'm not sure anyone else would get it. My 14 month old has poops that are

different from my older two. She is being raised vegan and the others

weren't. She eats lots of fruits and veggies as well as soy products and

whole grain prducts like whole wheat bread. I also give her peanut butter

and some things with higher fat content for her little growing brain. Did

any of you experience diapers that were soft and pasty rather than formed?

I want to know if I should be conerned and call the dr. she seems healthy

in every way and is certainly gaining weight. what do you think?

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm raising my daughter as a vegan, and her

poops have always been very soft and not formed at all. I remember when a

friend of mine was giving me advice on potty training. She said, " When she

poops in her diaper, just roll it out into the toilet so she can see where

it belongs. " I laughed and said, " It has the consistancy of peanut butter.

It doesn't roll. " LOL

Ok, it's been awhile since I had personal experience with this as my son is now

5. But, this one boy who went to an in-home preschool with my son and was more

than a year younger, was very late potty training. One reason he was very late

potty training (at least 3 1/2) was because his poops were ALWAYS runny. He was

not a vegetarian, so don't let anyone convince you that is the reason.

Hi Carol, I wouldn't worry about it. I asked my pediatrician about the

consistency of my son's bowel movements bc they are as you described,

and he is almost 22 months and lacto-ova. He said that he would expect

this based on his diet, and it is not a concern, since he is gaining

weight (he's actually in the 97+ percentile!! for height and head

size, too!!). We NEVER have a problem with constipation! :) Lisa
