Guest guest
Ok, this is out of left field and a bit off the subject of veganism/vegetarianism, but I'm having trouble and ya'll seem very knowledgeable. I want to start a (very) small organic baby food business-I'll sell at local outdoor organic markets. My problem is in locating a certified kitchen to use. I have been told by the health depart. that I will not be able to use my home kitchen for this. Does anyone have ideas? I've called quite a few caterers and no one is interested in renting out their kitchen. Thanks. Guest guest
I would start by checking with other like-minded business owners, local and not. Since you have local organic markets, try contacting some of the vendors and see what advice they offer. Off the top of my head, check with a local orchard or farm that might produce their own jams and preserves. Maybe they could rent you their kitchen during off hours. Also, some private schools and even office buildings (I know from experience) have kitchens that they never or rarely use and might be willing to rent out. You might have to go to the expense of recertification, and even aquiring equiptment. An organic baby food business is my (future) dream as well. Good luck to you! I would love to hear what you finally come up with.
