Guest guest
There's a recipe in the VitaMix cookbook that I was going to try for making rice milk. Has anyone tried that? If so, what sweetener did you use? Also, I attempted to make soymilk using soybeans in the VitaMix and my attempt was a disaster! I ended up throwing everything out. My problem wasn't with using the VitaMix, it was with the straining part. First, I used 4 layers of unbleached cheesecloth as suggested , but no liquid was extracted. I tried 2 layers, and I got dribbles. I don't remember if I used a single layer, but after the 3rd time the cheesecloth became detached from the jar while I was straining, I quit! I would like to try making the milk again, but not until I get some additional guidance! I really want to using the Vita-Mix for making milk instead of investing in a soymilk maker if at all possible. I think making the milk would save us big $$$. I even found a recipe for making soymilk fortified with calcium and B-12! P.S. I've had my Vita-Mix for only a few months and I love it!!! Guest guest
I don't know if it will work for your application or not but I often use nylon for straining things. That or cotton muslim. In fact there are reusable tea bags and sprout bags made from cotton muslim. Good luck!
