Guest guest
FEMA started distributing food this weekend, 2 weeks after the hurricane. Each box of 12 Meals-Ready-to-Eat contains 2 'vegetarian' meals. Today we ate pasta with vegetables. There were no ingredients listed on the package; it tastes like Spaghetti-O's with Veg-all and mushrooms added. Instead of O's though, it used rotini pasta. It had a chemical heater in a baggie to which you add a bit of water and it leaps into furiously boiling, steamy heat. Surprise. The directions for wrapping the heater around the meal packet and putting into the little cardboard box were nonsense. The heater baggie generated steam and hydrogen so fast I just laid the packet on the heater for a few minutes to warm it. The MRE also contained other little packets of food, some of which was vegan: crackers, peanut butter, rasins/nuts, instant tea, instant apple cider. The vanilla cake contained eggs and dairy and tasted like last year's Little Debbie cake. Everything was enriched with calories and vitamins for a full [and hard] day's worth of nutrition. I was hoping to see the MREs they send to foreign countries which are said to be vegan so they don't go against the diet of any local religion. .... Be kind. Be of good cheer.
