For those of you who have seen Peaceable Kingdom- is

it appropriate for children? I have a 12 yr old and a

7 yr old. They are both veg but only understand in

theory why we don't eat meat, they don't really have a

grasp of what is really going on out there. I don't

want them traumatized though!

Also, does anyone know if there will be a screening

near Baltimore?

I don't think anyone can answer that question for you. What sort of

effect the film would have on a child depends upon the emotional

maturity and makeup of the child.

I would STRONGLY urge you to watch the film yourself before showing

it to either of your children--even the 12 year old. You know your

children best, and are the one who can best judge what sort of

impact the film might have on them, once you have seen it yourself.

I know adults for whom seeing this film has been inspiring, and

others for whom it has been devastating. I personally would not feel

comfortable showing it to anyone younger than a teenager.

Observing trauma--even on a film--can have a tremendous and

debilitating impact on very sensitive people, and children may be

more sensitive than most. It actually can cause severe Post-

Traumatic Stress. It is not, IMO, always productive or healthy for

all people to see graphic footage, although such footage can be a

powerful tool for transformation and advocacy.

My $0.02.
