For some people, they lack interest because their lives are too busy to just sit around and watch a game. Some of the local members don't enjoy competitive sports because of the win/lose result, which is believed to cause people to be less compassionate towards each other. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but there is a whole line of thinking in this area. Other members don't like the professional sports teams because so many are big supporters of hunting animals. Others simply don't enjoy sports because they are more interested in spending their free time enjoying the public service efforts they are apart of.?// I'd say it's more likely just the people you seem to know and associate with. I know other vegetarians that love sports as much as we do. It's a such an out of line blanket statement to say that vegetarians don't like organized sports. It's mentalities like that cause the rest of the population to think vegetarians/vegetarianism is weird. It's ridiculous. Jacqueline
Guest guest
I agree with you...my daughter & I are vegetarians as well as sports enthusiasts...we enjoy being outside communing with nature...moving our bodies is a very healthy thing to do. We don't dwell on the competitive aspects of it so much...when everybody is exercising their bodies cardiovascularly...everybody wins somehow. Are these people who believe vegs & sports don't coexist aware of how many professional sports figures that are vegetarian?!! We are from St. Louis...so Tony LaRussa comes to mind...St. Louis Baseball Cardinals Manager & former player, there are many more... Peace be with you...
