Guest guest Report post Posted June 15, 2005 Has anyone heard of or experienced getting a headache from eating watermelon? I ate a delicious organic watermelon this morning with nothing else and immediately got a headache. I thought the pony tail holder on my hair was too tight and therefore caused my headache until I ate more watermelon later today and immediately got another headache. What could be in the watermelon that is causing this reaction? I tried doing a search on the net regarding this but didn't have much success.
Guest guest Report post Posted June 16, 2005 when I was a kid my mom used to say not to drink soft drinks (carbonated beverages) with watermelon or I would get a headache. Maybe the carbonation reacts with the watermelon. Not sure if that is the problem. seemed like just some wierd thing my mom said... --- admartin <admartin wrote: > Has anyone heard of or experienced getting a > headache from eating watermelon? > > I ate a delicious organic watermelon this morning > with nothing else and immediately got a headache. Guest guest Report post Posted June 16, 2005 Two options . One the sugar contents of the watermelon might be too much for you . Two the watermelon might have activated your colon . Perhaps you are clogged ? Did you soon have a bowel evacuation Lynda Carter C.N.C. _www.aliveandraw.com_ (http://www.aliveandraw.com)
Guest guest Report post Posted June 17, 2005 I don't mean to be so simplistic so forgive me if I am but perhaps it was just really cold. Did you have it in the fridge? Maybe your allergic. Have you been able to eat watermelon before without a reaction? admartin <admartin wrote:Has anyone heard of or experienced getting a headache from eating watermelon? Guest guest Report post Posted June 18, 2005 Hi, I don't know the cause, but, I know it happens with many people if they take any fruit early in the morning. It also happened with me from peaches. My experience says, if you normally take coffee or tea, or any other regular drink, and all of sudden you didn't take your regular drink, which your body, I mean your abdomen was waiting for that drink and you took watermelon instead, which has very very cooling, and cleansing the intestine properties and it disturbed your system. By the way let us know, how is the headache now, it must be gone by now. admartin <admartin wrote: Has anyone heard of or experienced getting a headache from eating watermelon? Guest guest Report post Posted June 20, 2005 I'm more inclined to think it may be a combination of the sugar content of the watermelon maybe coupled with the fact that you may have eaten it on an empty stomach. I once had a similar reaction to grapes. I bought a bunch of grapes that were absolute the best grapes I had ever tasted and wound up eating the whole bunch all at once! I had a spltting headache afterward that lasted for two days straight. Now I stick to a few grapes at a time. Guest guest Report post Posted June 20, 2005 The headache must have lasted an hour after I ate some and I think I did eat it on an empty stomach. I bet what you said had a lot to do with what I experienced.
