Guest guest
I know everyone here will understand. Our sweet family pooch, a Golden Retreiver named Dozer, was diagnosed with serious cancer last night. He had been coughing, not eating well, lost his bark, and didn't want to go on walks anymore. this all in the last 2 weeks or so (the not eating a day or so). I took him in last night, and they did xrays and bloodwork, and he had a big tumor on his liver and his lungs were just full of it. I used to work as a veterinary nurse and have seen lots of x-rays, so as I told my husband, I was certain of the diagnosis. We brought him home and loved & babied him, and seeing how much pain and discomfort he was in, took him in around noon and had him euthanized. I sat on the floor with his head in my lap, kissing and talking to him the whole time. He went peacefully, and I'm glad we were able to spare him a long, painful death. I keep thinking I hear him panting, or his tags jingling. I just came back from a walk, and when I came to the front door and didn't see him lying in front of it, I felt like someone kicked me in the stomach. We've had him privately cremated, and on a nice windy day, we are planning to take him out to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, where he loved to swim, and let him go. Thanks for listening. He was our 2nd baby (the first was an also lost cockatiel named Murphy, very beloved as well) and he was with us for almost 13 years and was a love every minute of his life. Peace, Laura in VA

Guest guest
Oh Laura, how sad. We lost a cat the same way. I thought he had a cold and took him to the vet. She felt the mass and did and ultrasound. We also took him home and loved him. The next morning we had him euthanized. I stayed with him too. It is heartbreaking. My children were devistated. I (foolishly) allowed them each to get a kitten of thier own. This did help them recover from the loss. The cat we lost was my cat and I miss him terribly. I am so sorry for your loss. progressive7862 <allens717 wrote:I know everyone here will understand.
