Guest guest
Sarah, I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind, but I found that smoothies were good energy boosters for me. Frozen banana (peel it before you freeze it), OJ or apple juice, ground flax seed, splash of soy milk, blueberries, spoonful of nut butter...whatever was in the fridge, really! I also tried to have little power snacks all day long, like fruit, trail mix, Luna bars, soy yogurt, etc. Not sure if you are vegan but if so, I found it helpful and reassuring to take a vegan DHA supplement, especially in my last trimester. I get mine online at www.drfuhrman.com. Guest guest
Sarah, I'm in my 8th month and was feeling SOOOOOO dragging earlier this week. I realized I hadn't been paying enough attention to my diet, things have been really hectic here, and I wasn't getting enough iron and was maybe low on protein too. So I've started making a point of getting my blackstrap molasses every day for the iron (I can't tolerate any kind of iron in pill form) and also a hemp protein shake with added Udo's essential oil blend. Now I'm feeling better. (I could tell I was getting anemic because when I pulled down my lower eyelid it was all white inside instead of pink!) I'm all for getting nutrients from whole food and not relying on supplements and such, but during pregnancy you have extra needs and if you have a busy life it can be hard sometimes to make and eat all those great balanced meals and snacks. Also, this pregnancy I find I can't eat soy, which is such a convenient high protein source. That leaves beans and nuts, and sometimes a lot of beans upsets my stomach. So the hemp protein powder really comes in handy! Good luck to you! Jen , " Sarah Glenn " <sarah@c...> wrote: > > Does anyone have any good energy boosters for pregnancy? Guest guest
Thanks everyone! *Sarah* momma to Alexin 3 and Cameron 18m. (hbac) - admartin Tuesday, January 18, 2005 11:45 AM Re: energy booster Soy Shakes - I used to blend a half pound of firm tofu, 3 dates, 1 or 2 bananas, and sometimes coconut in the blender with some soy milk. This was especially good when I didn't have an appetite for any food. - " Sarah Glenn " <sarah Tuesday, May 17, 2005 12:56 PM energy booster > > > > Does anyone have any good energy boosters for pregnancy?
