Guest guest
I recently saw Moran Spurlock's documentary, Supersize Me, about the fast food industry and the US obesity epidemic. The movie is more anti-fat than anti-meat, but Spurlock's girlfriend is a Vegan and I think she comes across well in the film. I thought it was an excellent movie, and there is also some great bonus material on the DVD where Spurlock chats with the author of Fast Food Nation, Eric Schlosser. The thought occurred to me that it might be useful to have my kids watch the video, but some of the material might not be appropriate for younger kids, such as the casual talk about sex and the frankness that they talk about being grossly overweight. But then again, it might be helpful to counter all the billions of dollars spent by fast food companies to hook kids before they know what is happening. Has anybody watched this movie with their kids? If so, what age were the children? And how did they react? Did you have any parent-child discussions along with the viewing? - Alan
