Guest guest
Hi all, After reading some of the comments about Silk being owned by a dairy company, I felt the need to offer another perspective. I can understand the reluctance on the part of many vegans to buy Whitewave products. I don't eat dairy myself, so I get it. I remember being pretty irritated when I found out that Whitewave was purchased by Dean Foods, which actually happened quite some time ago. My husband saw it very differently, though. He insisted that this would give Whitewave greater marketing power and the opportunity to make soy products much more accessible to the general public. He was right. For example: My mother-in-law recently informed me that she found Silk soymilk in her local grocery store. Mind you, she lives in a very tiny town in the middle of Wisconsin. This may not seem significant to some people, but to a woman who was raised on a dairy farm and has spent all of her 62 years around the dairy industry, this was a bit of a mind-blower. And hey, I don't have to worry about running out of soymilk when we take the kids to visit. A small thing, but pretty cool nonetheless. So judge if you must, but keep in mind that Whitewave is now giving many people dairy alternatives where none previously existed. I know this is a black-and-white issue to some, but for others, there is a bigger picture involved. Blessings, Maria
