Guest guest
Hi, Thank you all for your letters that affirm our stand on vegetarianism. I have included the letter I received from the leader of the group and my response to that letter. (We were in two groups with the same homeschool people, CHEF and 4H.) After writing the enclosed letter, I wrote the 4H leader to ask to change to anther 4H group. Later, after talking to my son, I realized I had asked to change to another 4H group in haste. So I emailed the 4H leader again and stated Stuart's wishes to remain in the group. I do not believe we can be easily removed from the 4H group as we have done nothing wrong and it is publically funded. I plan to order some more vegetarian t shirts plus Planned Parenthood and NOW shirts to wear to the 4H meetings. I will forward the Christian vegetarian links many of you posted to all the CHEF members I have e-mails for. Thanks Again, Teresa p.s. Although I realize you do not need my permission for this, anyone that wants to is more than welcome to send Kathy Henkel any and all information regarding christianity and vegetarianism. My husband is travelling again and so I do not know how much more time I can devote to this project. teresa aldrich <taldrich January 24, 2005 9:26:25 AM CST " Kathy Henkel " <rkhenkel Re: Support Group Emails Kathy, Honesty, this is the first group of people I have met first hand that use the bible as their sole source of information. I guess I now have a better understanding of what a Biblical Worldview is. My justification for posting the quotes is that I had read the numerous political quotes that had been posted which I felt were way off topic and had absolutely nothing to do with homeschooling. I assumed you were very casually monitoring what had been posted. I put the subject as off topic so people would know it was not pertinent to homeschooling. I ask that you take us off the CHEF homeschool e-mail and out of the group entirely. Because my philosophies are so different from those of many of the members it is quite likely that I will inadvertently offend someone else. I will contact Linda and find and withdraw the boys from the Soaring Eagles as well. Inclosed is my response to the person who was so deeply offended by reading the quotes. I encourage you to look at the the Christian vegetarian websites as well. Hi, I forwarded the vegetarian quotes to many people I know, not just the CHEF group. It never occurred to me that the integrity of the authors of the quotes would come into question by anyone. I am sorry if I have upset you. I have included a couple of links to some Christian Vegetarian websites that may communicate the vegetarian standpoint to someone as deeply Christian as yourself. http://www.christianveg.com/ http://www.jesusveg.com/ I do not know who else may have been offended. As this letter should sever my ties with the group I ask that you allow others to judge me fairly and share my above response to all of those who have been offended. Peace, Teresa Hi Teresa I truly realize how passionate you are in your views about animals. Though I do not agree with your views, I have attempted to keep subjects which would be offensive to you off the email group. At the beginning of the year, we made the announcement that everyone is welcome, but our approach for the group is from a Biblical worldview. The Bible has much to say about animals, including that they are a source of food. Since your beliefs are in conflict with a Biblical Worldview, I am requesting that you refrain from posting emails on this subject. I hope that you and yours are healthy. Several of my children have colds, which they caught from me, unfortunately. We are certainly looking forward to spring!
