Guest guest
Gary, My husband eats meat, but I don't. My son made the choice not to eat meat when he was 2 and I read him Charlotte's Web. It was tough at first (he wanted to eat chicken, but not A chicken... it took a little bit to explain that the chopped up pieces on the plate don't look the same, but they are. Once he got that, he didn't want to eat animals anymore... because they didn't want to be eaten. Charlotte's Web has a lot of good messages (where meat comes from, animals don't want to be eaten, the value of a good friend, etc.), and includes the perspective of the animals. I have not seen the video (I have read the book to him, and we also got the book on tape at our local library to listen to on long road trips), but that may be an alternative if she is not one to sit for a chapter a day kind of story. Hope this helps, Cindy My wife and I have a 3 year old. Before we adopted her, I told my wife, who eats meat, that I did not want the child eating meat. My family and her family do not support me in this. My question is when and how do I explain to my daughter where meat origniates.
