Guest guest
Well, I finally have hubby's support in this, and we have decided to make the jump from meat eaters (relatively unhealthy, way too processed foods as well) to vegetarianism. For him, it is a combo of factors - #1 is health, #2 is cost (i'm sure you guys know how much meat costs! compare that with vegetarian staples...and he's a penny pincher ). I am also wierd about eating animals (it's always bothered me, but.... bad bad me has just sort of ignored it). I was vegetarian when i was in high school (and for a few years thereafter) in the sense that i didn't eat meat - but i was totally unhealthy about it. I made no accomodations in my diet for protein/iron etc...just cut out the meat . SO, I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for meals/recipes/transition tips/good staple grocery list ideas (i am notorious for not having what i want when i go to cook...)/tricks to get a picky toddler to switch over etc.... our whole family is making this jump together. Thanks! Liv, wife to Adam, Mommy to Liam 10/1/02 (vegetables? yuck...) Rhys 8/13/04 (i don't want veggies either, i just want my mommy milk)
Guest guest
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! CONGRATS! one thing I would say- learn to use tofu. it is cheap and very, very vesatile. tofu cookery by louise hagler is good. plus there are many many recipes on vegweb.com, peta.org, etc. also- type in tofu in a search and you'll be there for days. I have no clue how to cook but am learning and have raised my 4 year old pretty well( I think!!). it may be very scary at first but it becomes easy very soon. you both will feel better- not only physically but mentally b/c you'll know that you are helping to end a terrible suffering. good luck and best of health!! keep us updated on your progress!! c - thepontons<thepontons < > Thursday, December 16, 2004 11:31 AM Making the big jump....
