Guest guest
My husband informed me the other day that he is willing to try a vegan alternative to real ice cream. He has always had respiratory allergic reactions to dairy but ate it any way. His reactions are so severe now that he has difficulty breathing for hours shortly after eating dairy. Does anyone know of a vegan alternative (commercial or recipe) to his favorite - Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey? (I think it has chunks of chocolate something in it and bananas!) - " wisheyemay " <happyvegan Tuesday, December 14, 2004 5:24 AM Re: OT - Napping > > > > My 4 year old started this at about 3 1/2. I haven't tried that one but I have had many of their other flavors and those were all excellent. I particularly recommend Turtle Tracks and Chunky Mint Madness. http://www.turtlemountain.com/products/products.html ---- Patricia Bullington-McGuire <patricia The brilliant Cerebron, attacking the problem analytically, discovered three distinct kinds of dragon: the mythical, the chimerical, and the purely hypothetical. Guest guest
Yep, the Swingin' Anna Banana flavor of Soy Delicious Decadent is a very good substitution for Chunky Monkey (which, years ago, used to be my vice). Cherry Nirvana is my favorite of all the flavors. I got my non-veg brother hooked on it. Best soy ice cream ever. Guest guest
I have respiratory problems that I first noticed after I had milk or ice cream. When I did a test switching to soy, I had the same problems. The problem may be the cold food rather than the dairy product. At least, it's something to consider. -- Dick Ford www.dick-ford.com Be kind. Be good. Be true. Be fair. Be glad. Be free.

Guest guest
Hi Dick, What I find is that I do have a little bit of an ice cream cough with the soy ice cream (most likely cold induced) but it doesn't cause longer term respiratory problems like ice cream does. If I have ice cream I can be coughing and my lungs congested for hours later.
