Guest guest
Our family lived with my inlaws for awhile. She has always made dinners that include lots of side vegetables or has been concerned with the things that I do and do not like to eat. When I became vegetarian her vegetable side dishes dissapeared.Even the spaghetti which she used to make with plain sauce began appearing with hamburger in it.Salads became limp iceberg and shredded carrots. Not very appetizing. It's like she took offense to me choosing not to eat meat. Now that we don't live with her any more, she constantly offers to cook me eggs, or make me a ham sandwich, how about some leftover meatloaf? And no she hasn't forgotten that I don't eat these things. These are the people that we don't visit much anymore,at least not for dinner. I have also been to many many restaurants where there was just nothing for me to eat.Even the " vegetarian " options have some hidden meat ingredient.I have also been to dinner where the main course is fish, because they knew there was a vegetarian coming over. They are shocked to here that it is meat just like any other living, breathing animal. I have had a neighbor take my daughter out for fast food and gave her a hamburger because she thought just this once wouldn't hurt. When I told her that it wasn't ok her response was " but she ate it all,she liked it " I found out later she was really hungry and was not given the option of anything else. I would almost rather hear she had worms for lunch than a fast food hamburger.I wouldn't be surprised if they did have worms in them. > This sounds like the perfect segue into a fun side topic, just in time > for all the family- & -food holidays coming up.
