Guest guest
Good morning! My name is Susie, and I come to vegetarianism by way of my 14-year-old son, Greg, who has been vegetarian for over a year, and only ate fish for a year before that. So over the past two years, I've gradually eaten less and less meat. We live in Delmar, NY...a small village near Albany. A few weeks ago, that same son and I began taking yoga lessons, and something must have shaken loose for me in those postures. We walked out of class one day, happy, and joyous and hugging, practically dancing for joy, and out of my mouth came, " I'm too happy to ever eat meat again, " and that was that. The interesting thing about this sensitive son is that he has Asperger's Syndrome, a kind of high-functioning autism. We decided to try yoga to help him with stress management and focus. It's working... I have an omnivorous husband and younger son, but thankfully, they welcome a meatless home, they don't care if we eat vegetarian at home. So there's no real conflict! They realize eating meatless is better for their health and since I'm an enthusiastic cook, they're happy as long as they're served good-tasting meals. I'm happy I found this group and I look forward to learning more about the vegetarian way of life and dealing with family issues. Thank you for having me...
