Do you think you might like to join our Vegetarian-Epidermis discussion list?

You have just asked to join Vegetarian-Epidermis, and perhaps you'd like to

explore this topic just a little beforehand, before we proceed with your

commitment to such a list.

Unlike many lists, this list is relatively 'expert' in its focus, and merely

'dropping in' on the list (or lurking) is unlikely to yield much benefit for

you, and neither extensive 'getting to know' activities nor lurking with

occasional quips, questions, or other comments make much sense in the continuity

of serious people's engaging in serious discussion on such topics.

According to what is posted on the list's website at

Vegetarian-Epidermis/, the PURPOSE of the

Vegetarian-Epidermis list is for the discussion among vegetarians (only) about

dermatology and skin health issues, particularly with issues such as psoriasis,

acne, fungi, scars, health and scalp, flushing, dermal reactions to food(s) and

drink(s), inflammatory and non-inflammatory foods, aging dynamics and foods,

etc.

How would you like to advance the vegetarian study of the skin, our breathing

outer layer, through conversation on a discussion list devoted to the topic?

Did you know that what we consume and what surrounds us makes an immense

difference in the quality of our skin as we grow up, and even in later years?

Did you know that foods ingested frequently by careful vegetarians may be

helpful, while other foods and substances may be harmful? Would you like to

discuss that with us?

Have you done any reading so far which would help you contribute to this kind of

discussion list? If so, would you please tell us about this reading and study

and how you've learned something worth sharing with vegetarian teenagers,

parents of vegetarian teenagers, vegetarians of other ages, and with healthcare

professionals who work with vegetarians who are concerned with food, but also

concerned de facto with their appearance and their health.

When you join, now, we WILL ask you to (a) introduce yourself to the other

listmembers on this list and (b) share SOME interesting information others may

not have known about vegetarian diet (or culture or practices) and healthy (or

even unhealthy) skin. We could cover all kinds of topics related to skin:

adolescence, ethnicity and skin health, pigmentation and sunlight re: vitamin D

production from sterols in the skin, angles of the sunlight in different parts

of the planet and how recommendations re: sunlight may be different in different

climates and latitudes, habits of various differing groups of vegetarians and

which lead towards health and which lead away from healthy skin (e.g. water

consumption, etc.), genetic and behavioral aspects of healthy skin, and much

more.
