Guest guest
I just now got a call from the ASPCA officer. Apparently it is not a rooster but a " rare " Bantham (sp?) hen. Why does it " cock-a doodle-do? " Well - apparently the hens do... AND - it is OK to keep it " as a pet " here, the cage size is fine, and it is also OK to keep it on hot tar. Go figure. She said it is not the way SHE'D like to see it kept, but no laws have been broken. Guest guest
Tracey I am sorry things didn't work out for you the way you had hoped on this issue. Since you stated the people who have the Banty hen don't speak very good english, maybe this hen provides them with food with her eggs. It wouldn't be my choice to see her kept in the heat all day either, but last year, when my son found an injured (common) crow and brought him home for us to heal, we had it taken from us because it is illegal to keep wild birds. Apparently the goventment felt it was better to euthanize this bird than to give it the chance Yhwh would have wanted it to have. My children were learning alot from it but that's the law. And it made me laugh to think that Banty hens are rare. I have a girlfriend who has about 50 of them on her farm. She hates the things, especially the rooster because they are so aggressive. Guest guest
How unfortunate that it is " just " a hen. If it was a dog I'd bet they couldn't keep it that way. When are People going to realize that dog, hen or cow it doesn't matter? Every living thing is entitled to respect and decency. It makes me so angry.
