" CSA " stands for " community-supported agriculture. "

You essentially invest in a local farm (usually

organic) by paying a rate (weekly, monthly, seasonal,

or yearly) and receiving a portion of what produce the

farm grows. Most CSAs will deliver families' produce

boxes to different " drop-off " sites in the communities

they serve.

 

The best online list of CSAs I have ever seen is the

Robyn Van En Center for CSAs:

Another online resource is

http://www.localharvest.org/, which lists farmers

markets, CSAs, and the like across the country.

 

We belonged to a CSA for a long time and loved it. It

can be a challenge to use all the produce if some of

it is unfamiliar, but the CSA usually provides

recipes.
