How do you find out about it? > > Melanie Melanie-- " CSA " stands for " community-supported agriculture. " You essentially invest in a local farm (usually organic) by paying a rate (weekly, monthly, seasonal, or yearly) and receiving a portion of what produce the farm grows. Most CSAs will deliver families' produce boxes to different " drop-off " sites in the communities they serve. The best online list of CSAs I have ever seen is the Robyn Van En Center for CSAs: http://www.csacenter.org/ Another online resource is http://www.localharvest.org/, which lists farmers markets, CSAs, and the like across the country. We belonged to a CSA for a long time and loved it. It can be a challenge to use all the produce if some of it is unfamiliar, but the CSA usually provides recipes.
