Guest guest
----- Forwarded by Diane Moreau/NYLB on 02/26/2004 11:32 AM ----- Dear Friends: Yesterday promised a quick and successful passage of H. 1252, the Massachusetts Dissection Choice Bill, through the House, but the MTA lobbyist Julie Johnson is up to it again and succeeded getting an inexperienced Representative, Patricia Haddad, to stall that quick passage. We are extremely optimistic about getting the H. 1252 out of the House, but we need to back-off Haddad and let her know she's on the wrong side of the issue by doing MTA's bidding. See below for details. ____________ Anti-Dissection Choice Lobbyist Up to No Good Again Massachusetts Dissection Choice Bill H. 1252 has been stalled from an otherwise quick passage through the House by Representative Patricia Haddad, who is acting under the influence of the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA). The MTA has convinced Haddad to attempt to add a " local option " to H. 1252, leaving it up to local school districts to decide whether or not to allow students the choice of humane dissection alternatives -- thus gutting the bill. The bill has enormous legislative support and we cannot let the MTA's attempt to derail H. 1252 succeed. IF YOU CARE ABOUT ANIMALS AND COMPASSIONATE STUDENTS PLEASE TAKE ONE MINUTE to contact Rep. Haddad NOW and ask her to not support MTA's " local option " language but rather vote to SUPPORT Rep. Kakfa's Dissection Choice bill as is. WE COUNTED ON EACH OF YOU IN THE PAST AND SUCCEEDED IN BACKING OFF OPPOSITION --- PLEASE LET'S DO IT AGAIN!!!! Rep. Haddad's contact info: Phone: 617-722-2692 Fax: 617-722-2846 Email: Rep.PatriciaHaddad For more information contact ahall to reach the Ethical Science and Education Coalition, the educational affiliate of the New England Anti-Vivisection Society
