Guest guest
Tracey, I have seen three different nutritionists for my four-year-old son, who is either just hitting the bottom of the weight chart or is completely off it. All three have been supportive of my son's vegetarian diet (he is ovo-lacto) but have been concerned that he is not getting enough calories and fat. He is a very unethusiastic eater. They have all recommended that I take foods that he likes and add olive oil, nut oils, or canola oil. So I add oil (sometimes with a drop or two of tamari) to vegetables, pasta, even on bread. I saute veggie burgers in oil. I add olive oil to soups. My son also likes nuts, so I let him have all the almonds or walnuts he wants. It's a different kind of mindset to look for full-fat versions of foods we have all been conditioned to seek out in reduced fat, but regular tofu and soy milk have quite a bit of fat. As for the vitamin, I don't know about a liquid, but we use Freeda chewables, which are vegan, and completely unadulterated. I order them on the Internet. Good luck, Terry what are some other sources of fat in a vegan diet? Secondly - I would love a recommendation (on group or privately) for a (vegan) liquid vitamin/mineral suppliment for him. We have used Schiff in the past. Thanks so much. Any advice welcomed! Tracey =^..^= www.KindheartedWomen.com FREE shipping all the time!
