We have a Trader Joe's now. There's also Wild Oats, Clintonville Co-Op,

Sunflower Nat. Foods, Northwest Nat. Foods, Beechwold Nat. Foods, and the large

chain stores have natural foods sections. We may not have the greatest art

support in the world, but the museum has a children's section and a free day,

our

conservatory is currently running an excellent Chihuly exhibition, and ever

heard of Wexner Center for the Arts? The Wexner Center (Les Wexner of the

Limited

Corp) does all kinds of great educational programs and family days. COSI is

another great museum for science and they have an excellent little kids space.

We go to COSI, the conservatory (free the first Wed. of the month), and the art

museum (free on Sundays). There is plenty to do if you know where look. There

are two animal rights groups here as well and the vegetarian society.

In Columbus, there are good stores (Wild Oats and

something Raisin). Some of the chain grocery stores

also carry organic items to compete. I am not sure if

a Trader Joes has moved into the area yet. There are

good veg friendly resaurants, Ethopian, Thai,

vegetarian, and in the Polaris area a Robek's

smoothies just opened.

You are not far from one of the best state parks

around Hocking Hills.

Of course if you are a sports fan, there's the Ohio

State games and because of the medical school there

are good hospitals. There is also a decent airport.

Columbus doesn't have much in the way of the arts.

However, there is an alternative theatre and the

public library system is great as well.

I don't know where Lafayette IN is. However, I have a

friend who is vegan and lives an hour south west of

Indianapolis. She loves Indianapolis; she works there

and it takes her about an hour to drive there.

Indianapolis is very veg friendly. I think there is

even a Trader Joe's there. However, where she lives is

rural and not veg friendly. She also lived near

Angola, IN and that wasn't too veg friendly either.

She was a high school teacher and got flack from

students and other teachers.

Based on my friend's experience and mine (and not

knowing where Lafayette is), I'd choose Columbus. Hope

this helps.

Peace,

Joann
