I understand your concerns because I have the same ones. I am vegan, as is my 3-year-old daughter. My hubby eats chicken and fish. I have no close friends who are vegetarian, so I was torn as to what I should do. I finally settled on my husband's sister because she has 3 children around my daughter's age. I discussed the vegetarian issue with her and she said she would have no idea what to feed my daughter. I told her that I'd love my daughter to remain a vegetarian, but that I also understood that I wouldn't be around any longer and that she would be taking over the mother role and would have to do as she saw fit. I asked her only to make sure my daughter would know that I was a vegetarian and why. Of course, in an ideal world, everyone would be vegan and we wouldn't have to worry about it. But, that's not the case. I thought it would make the most sense for my daughter to live with family, vegan or not. It makes me sad to think of her eating meat. But, at the same time, I know she'd be well loved. Hopefully, it will never come to that situation..... {knock on wood}. Just my $0.02.
