Guest guest
making dietary decisions based on health and morality for a four year old is not the same as force-feeding a child something they dislike. Perhaps we differ in opinion regarding the age that children can begin to assert their independence and make their own decisions...my children are 10 and 5, and while I have complete control over what my 5 year old eats, my 10 year old could very well be ordering chicken nuggets at school lunch without my knowledge. What I've told him is that these are my beliefs, and while I hope that he comes to the same conclusions regarding the inhumanity of the meat industry and feels compassion for all forms of life, as well as realizing the health benefits of being vegetarian, it is going to be his choice in the end. But not at 4 years old! For the same reason that a four year old may demand icecream for dinner every night, thier dietary fare should be left in the hands of the parent. The woman who was discussing her 4 year old never said that she had to force feed her vegetarian food, or that she disliked what she was being fed, it only seems that she was curious about eating meat since she sees others doing it. --- wrote: >
Guest guest
I agree totally. I remember having to eat meat too because my parents did not respect my choice to not eat meat at the age of 9. For more information about vegetarianism, please visit the VRG website at http://www.vrg.org and for materials especially useful for families go to http://www.vrg.org/family.
