Guest guest
I don't often post, but wanted to respond to Anna. My daughter is just 6 months old, and the doctor knows that I am vegetarian. She is in the 12th percentile right now for her age. She dropped from 50th to 25 from month 2-month 4, and then to 12th percentile at age 6 month. I was concerned, but the doctor told me that she was growing along her growth curve appropriately and she was not concerned. She said she dropped between month 2 and 4 because she had a growth spurt in length (she is 75-95 percentile in length). I tell you this because I agree with the others here.... you may want to start looking for another doctor.. I was never discouraged from breastfeeding my daugther. As a matter of fact, I asked if I should start feeding her solids at month 4 because she dropped in weight, and I was told to keep breastfeeding and to wait until she was 6 months old unless she started to act REALLY hungry. I did wait until she was 6 months old and am glad to have the support of my doctors all the way.... laurie For more information about vegetarianism, please visit the VRG website at http://www.vrg.org and for materials especially useful for families go to http://www.vrg.org/family.
