Guest guest
Hi, I live in Westport, just over the Massachusetts line from RI, and honestly, if there are vegetarians out there, I haven't run into them! I moved here from a town just south of San Francisco two years ago, and it's been difficult, foodwise, to get used to this area. California is, of course, food heaven for anyway who is sensitive to health or ethical matters -- an o/l vegetarian and even a vegan can usually order directly from the menu in most restaurants instead of having to go through the " but is there any chicken stock in it? " routine, or even worse, beg the waiter to have the chef cobble together an entree. But the south coast of Massachusetts is the land of the lobster, linguica, and the " meat raffle, " whatever that is! However, take heart, because in Providence you have Whole Foods (actually two of them now), and I have noticed postings on the bulletin board there about vegetarian family events. Perhaps you should take a browse through there and try to connect with some local families. Good luck, Terry - I am new to this group and I would like to know if anyone out there is from the RI area. We have 2 kids and I think it is important for them to know that they are not the only vegetrians in our town - although it seems that they just might be.
