Guest guest
Hello all- I am new to the group. We are in San Diego. We are lacto-ovo with an interesting twist, my ex- husband who has 50% custody is a meat eater. It is quite a challenge as he serves meat in all forms. I do my best to educate the kids (7 and 9) and they live a healthy lifestyle with me. My challenge is with the milk, we have tried all brands of soy, rice etc and the kids simply do not like it. They are big cereal eaters so they are still using organic milk. My daughter is also quite picky and organic yogurt is a big part of her diet. This group has been informative so far. Guest guest
Hi Julie and welcome to the group. My husband cannot stand any kind of milk - including cow's milk (he is omnivorous). He uses apple juice on his cereal. I used to before I found a soy milk I liked and I have to say that I do like the apple juice and still use it on my cereal from time-to-time. Just a thought in case you haven't tried it. Again, welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your ex's meat-eating habits. That does make things hard. At least your healthy eating helps mitigate the harm his does. Asfor the milk substitutes, you might try " weaning " by mixing soy or rice with the cow milk. (glad to hear it's organic!) And otherwise, just try to limit their consumption. I've been thinking I should slowly get my son and myself off the cereal habit - not that I think it's unhealthy, but I do think we should have more variety, maybe try a bit of scrambled tofu with fruit on the side sometimes, that kind of thing... So maybe if you can reduce the amount of milk then they'll lose their taste for it. Takes a long time, to be sure. Does your dd insist on eating the yogurt as is, or does she like it with fruit/granola, etc? Good luck. Glad you're here! ~Doh ------- Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable. ~ John F. Kennedy
