Humane Education Advocates Reaching Teachers (HEART) is a 501©(3)

non-profit educational organization created to raise awareness of

Humane Education among educators and community leaders. Given the

prevalence o! f violence in society today, it is more crucial than ever

to instill compassion, empathy and tolerance in young people.

 

HEART aims to break the cycle of violence by promoting the inherent

value of all beings and the environment. HEART is also dedicated to

increasing awareness and compliance of New York State Education law

Section 809 and Project SAVE. Section 809 requires every elementary

school that receives state funds to include instruction in humane

treatment and protection of animals. Project SAVE requires instruction

in Character Education for grades K-12.HEART seeks to achieve these

goals by creating a network of teachers, parents, school administrators,

 

students and concerned citizens devoted to the advancement of Humane

Education.

 

 

The East Village Premier Organic Vegetarian restaurant CARAVAN OF

DREAMS has generously offered to donate 15% of all orders - in house

or delivery to HEART for the week of June 8th-! June 14th. Just mention

Caravan of Dreams, the premier East Village organic, vegan restaurant,

will be offering LIVE FOOD preparation classes every Wednesday in

January starting on the 8th! Each three-hour class will include a

one-hour lecture, one hour of hands-on raw food preparation, and one

hour for eating and questions. They will cover a different aspect of

raw food nutrition and prepare a

completely new meal each week. As a participant, you are welcome to

attend as many classes as you like and should expect to learn

everythi! ng that you will need to begin incorporating gourmet, raw food

into your life. The class is designed for long time raw

fooders as well as those

new to healthy living.

 

WHEN: Wednesdays in May and June

TIME: 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

COST: Single class = $35, 2 classes = $65, All 4 classes = $99
